A Performance Boosting Program for College Admissions Departments
In July of 2011 the department of education issued new legislation that changed the way admissions counselors/advisors could be evaluated for performance. These changes have resulted in significant declines in enrollment performance at colleges throughout the country. We know, from our interactions with admissions professionals throughout the country, that the changes the DOE has implemented caused confusion as to what are acceptable management practices and a decline in morale among admissions counselors. Barker Educational Services Team (BEST) developed Service First in response to the performance declines we observed and has exclusively partnered with The Center for Corporate Development, headed by Dwight Lamb, to move forward in this exciting new program. The Service First program aims to boost performance in a compliant manner by focusing on attitude and enthusiasm over numbers and activities. We have developed a management track and an admissions advisor track for the program and each track delivers unique learning outcomes that are tailored to the goals and responsibilities of each job function.
Service First Teaches the Following Skills:
- Finding your Motivation Everyday
- Personal Accountability
- Being Passionate about your Job
- Managing to Performance without Focusing on Numbers
- Achieving Team Goals
Dwight Lamb is the President of The Center for Corporate Development and an educator / trainer for Colleges and Universities throughout the country, as-well-as a popular advanced degree commencement speaker. For almost three decades Dwight has helped numerous Fortune 500 companies strategically manage operations and talent.
Dwight was hired by Apollo Group, owner of one of the largest private universities in the country, to develop and execute an Enrollment and Business Development initiative, generating millions of dollars in corporate revenue. Bob Barker, one of the Apollo Group’s senior executives, at the time, announced, “I have found the motivator every campus should tap into… I sat in on a session Dwight Lamb was conducting, it was uplifting, humorous, and effective. Do what you have to do to get this gifted motivator out to your campuses ASAP.”
Now having formed a strategic partnership with Barker Educational Services Team, the two forces will focus on building successful enrollment departments at private colleges on a foundation of world class service to students.
